Pancha Phutana (also called Panch Phoron) is the soul of Odia and Bengali cooking – a magical five-spice blend that transforms even the simplest vegetable dish into a flavour-packed feast. Tiril Pancha Phutana is a ready-to-use whole spice mix, blended in the traditional proportion.
What is Tiril Pancha Phutana?
Tiril Pancha Phutana contains 5 whole spices in perfect balance:
1. Fenugreek Seeds (Methi)
2. Nigella Seeds (Kalonji / Kala Jeera)
3. Cumin Seeds (Jeera)
4. Mustard Seeds (Sarson)
5. Fennel Seeds (Saunf)
How to Use – Classic Tadka Method:
1. Heat 2 tbsp mustard oil or ghee in a pan until hot.
2. Add 1 tsp Tiril Pancha Phutana to the hot oil.
3. Let the seeds splutter and crackle for 20-30 seconds – this releases all the essential oils and aroma.
4. Add your choice of vegetables, dal, or greens immediately.
5. Cook as usual and enjoy the unmistakable East Indian flavour.
Best Used In:
– Odia Dal Tadka (Dalma)
– Aloo Potala Rasa (Potato and Pointed Gourd Curry)
– Saga Bhaja (Stir-fried greens)
– Bengali Shorshe Maach
– Begun Bhaja (Fried Brinjal)
– Mixed Vegetable Sabzi
Why Tiril Pancha Phutana?
Tiril sources each of the five spices separately from organic farms and blends them fresh in the traditional 1:1:1:1:1 ratio. No artificial mixing, no additives. Just pure, whole East Indian flavour in every spoonful.
Tip: Always add Pancha Phutana to HOT oil – cold oil will make the spices soggy and bitter instead of aromatic and nutty.
